Binge-watching,
also called binge-viewing or marathon-viewing, is the practice of watching
television for a long time span, usually a single television show. In a survey
conducted by Netflix in February 2014, 73% of people define binge-watching as
"watching 6 episodes or more of the same TV show in one sitting.
According to a survey done by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics,
the average American spends around 2.7 hours watching TV per day, which adds up
to almost 20 hours per week in total.
In fact, according to Nielsen,
361,000 people watched all nine episodes of season 2 of 'Stranger Things,' on
the first day it was released. All nine episodes of season 2 takes 520 minutes.
